Do you know?
The advantages of water-based technology
Extend the service life of the plate
Did you know that water-based ink is the friendliest solution for printing plates?
Conventional printing inks for flexible packaging mostly use solvent-based and several types of solvents. Some of these solvents can cause the plate to swell during the printing process, resulting in disappointing print quality. When using Water-based gravure ink _ You will not encounter this problem: deformation of the plate does not occur and you can use the plate to print longer quality.
Carbon monoxide reduction
Did you know that water-based technologies have been shown to reduce carbon emissions?
Waterborne inks from Deskun Intaglio are a more sustainable alternative: they reduce your flexible footprint and environmental impact on packaging. This is demonstrated by a series of eco-efficiency analyses conducted by scientific research, following the high standard assessment of the ISO 14040/44 life cycle and the ISO 14045 Eco-efficiency assessment. If you are willing to further reduce the carbon footprint of flexible packaging, there are other options, such as using biobased or biomass-balanced raw materials.
Excellent print quality
Did you know that todays water-based inks have the same level of performance as solvent-based inks?
Over the past many years, water-based gravure inks for flexible packaging have been tried, but not often accepted by the market. In recent years the discussion on sustainability has intensified and improvements need to be made in order to control and reduce the number of solvents that technologies have been developed.
Today, prints made with water-based gravure inks can match the print quality of those printed with SB ink. This is the result of a combination of improved resin technology (new insights and use of new raw materials) materials, knowledge of formulations (promoting adhesion, using optimal additive packages), innovation in machine design (mainly drying) capacity) and printing processes (improved ink speed, viscosity stability).
Cost analysis
Did you know that when water-based systems are used, the costs associated with polluting emissions are reduced?
From an environmental point of view, the emission of water-based VOCs is much lower than that of solvent-based inks. This is why the costs associated with pollutant emissions are lower. Examples are cost blowdown permits, unit blowdown costs, and costs of waste management, such as VOCS combustion required by CTO (catalytic thermal oxidant) to allow harmful particles to be broken down.
From a safety point of view, the storage capacity of cost solvent-based inks is higher than that of water-based inks because it is more flammable and therefore more prone to fire and explosion. In terms of prevention efforts, safer water-based inks are invaluable environmental hazards.
